the butterflies
in my garden
come here 
with no fear
and i cheer
their presence

i hope they 
or their descendants
make it to mexico
for i fear
no one here
cares
if they ever come back

as if butterflies
could carry
immigrants
on their backs

but if they could
would you stop them
