haltered 2022.09.28 like a show calf raised on a diet of beer led for a show ring blue ribbon raised not to fear a human's touch and the impending bolt to the head breakfast steak at dawn with bread no matter what numbers the hands on the watch on his wrist lay on or where the sun sits in the sky whenever he wakes up whether in bed or from a nap on the couch instead it's morning and time for breakfast i spend days thinking about supper and what to cook it's how I've been bred but never led i wouldn't take to halter such an end i dread it's why i don't sleep or even nap cattle nap i hate breakfast i'd rather have a beer and take a bolt to the head and know my life had a purpose and that i wasn't haltered
